{"id":1257,"date":"2024-02-16T11:23:56","date_gmt":"2024-02-16T11:23:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dmediagh.com\/?p=1257"},"modified":"2024-02-16T11:23:58","modified_gmt":"2024-02-16T11:23:58","slug":"korle-bu-renal-unit-may-shut-down-due-to-indebtedness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dmediagh.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/16\/korle-bu-renal-unit-may-shut-down-due-to-indebtedness\/","title":{"rendered":"Korle-Bu Renal Unit may shut down due to indebtedness"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The renal dialysis unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) is warning of a possible shutdown due to the facility&#8217;s inability to raise money to purchase consumables for service delivery.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Head of the Unit, Prof. Vincent Boiman, with every dialysis section, the unit loses GH\u20b5380 which is accumulating as debt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Boiman says the situation is now affecting service delivery and may lead to the shutting down of the unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking to&nbsp;<strong>JoyNews<\/strong>, he said \u201cEach time, we dialyse one person at GH\u20b5380, we lose another&nbsp; GH\u20b5380&nbsp; because the actual cost is more than double what the patients are paying now.
