{"id":134,"date":"2023-04-10T11:55:59","date_gmt":"2023-04-10T11:55:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dmediagh.com\/?p=134"},"modified":"2023-04-15T16:46:46","modified_gmt":"2023-04-15T16:46:46","slug":"dozens-killed-in-barbaric-burkina-faso-attacks-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dmediagh.com\/index.php\/2023\/04\/10\/dozens-killed-in-barbaric-burkina-faso-attacks-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Dozens killed in \u2018barbaric\u2019 Burkina Faso attacks"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><div id=\"sbwrap\"><div class=\"mjo-body\"><div class=\"container-fluid nopadding position-relative\"><div class=\"container article-body\"><div class=\"row\"><div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-8 col-xl-8\"><div id=\"article-text\" class=\"mt-3\"><p>Some 44 people have been killed after two deadly attacks in northern Burkina Faso on Thursday, officials have said.The twin attacks happened in the villages of Kourakou and Tondobi in the Sahel region, near the Niger border.No  group has admitted to carrying out the attacks, but jihadist violence  is common in the area and officials have blamed \u201carmed terrorist  groups\u201d.Militant groups linked to al-Qaeda and the Islamic State (IS) are known to operate in the region.The  Lieutenant-Governor of the Sahel region, Rodolphe Sorgho, said the  assailants behind the \u201cdespicable and barbaric attack\u201d had been \u201cput out  of action\u201d.<\/p><div id=\"in-article\" style=\"min-width:300px; min-height:250px; overflow:hidden; margin: 20px auto;\" data-google-query-id=\"CMqMu8KKn_4CFQOo1QodncAA2w\">  Other  villagers were reportedly injured in the attacks, but it is unclear how  many. Mr Sorgho said \u201cactions to stabilise the area are underway\u201d<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><div id=\"sbwrap\"><div class=\"mjo-body\"><div class=\"container-fluid nopadding position-relative\"><div class=\"container article-body\"><div class=\"row\"><div class=\"col-sm-12 col-md-12 col-lg-8 col-xl-8\"><div id=\"article-text\" class=\"mt-3\"><p>t was on Friday morning that we saw that there were several dozen dead,\u201d he said.AFP  has also reported that the killings were in retaliation for the  lynching of two jihadists who had tried to steal cattle a few days  earlier.<\/p><div id=\"in-article1\" style=\"min-width:300px; min-height:250px; overflow:hidden; margin: 20px auto;\" data-google-query-id=\"CPjgtLiKn_4CFfEHBgAddlgB1w\">  <div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/1002554\/Myjoyonline\/mjo-article-left_rectangle_mid1_1__container__\" style=\"border: 0pt none; margin: auto; text-align: center;\"><\/div>Thursday night\u2019s killings happened close to the village of Seytenga, where dozens of people were killed last June.Burkina Faso and its neighbours have faced protracted jihadist insurgencies since 2013.Thousands  of people have been killed during the crisis and more than two million  have been displaced.
