The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has announced that the 40th edition of National Farmers\u2019 Day will take place on Friday, November 8, 2024, in the Greater Accra Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This annual celebration serves as a key event to recognize the vital contributions of farmers and fishermen to Ghana\u2019s economy and food security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s theme, \u201cBuilding Climate-Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Food Security,\u201d emphasizes the country\u2019s commitment to adopting agricultural practices that address the growing challenges posed by climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement released on Wednesday, October 23, the Ministry also announced the organization of Agrifest Ghana 2024, a five-day National Agricultural Fair, from November 4 to November 8, as part of the activities leading up to Farmers\u2019 Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis event will showcase Ghana\u2019s rich agricultural heritage and serve as a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange and innovation, bringing together farmers and stakeholders from across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The celebration will culminate in a National Awards Night on November 8, where President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will honour outstanding farmers in 16 award categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These prestigious awards include the Overall National Best Farmer, National Best Livestock Farmer, National Best Female Farmer, and National Best Physically Challenged Farmer, among others, celebrating the essential role of farmers in driving the nation\u2019s agricultural sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry added that National Farmers\u2019 Day will also provide a critical platform to promote dialogue and encourage farmers to adopt best practices for sustainable agriculture in the face of environmental changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Traditionally held in December, this year\u2019s event has been moved to November due to the upcoming 2024 general elections<\/p>\n\n\n\n
