The Queen of the Ga-Adangme Muslim Union (Nungua West), Lawrencia Naa Borley Nelson, known as Naa Gamu, has died after being shot during her enskinment ceremony in Nungua, Accra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident occurred on Saturday when a musketry fired during the ceremony struck her in the thigh. Naa Gamu and her husband were being enskinned as queen and chief of the Ga-Adangme Muslim Union\u2019s Nungua West branch at the time of the shooting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the motive behind the gunshot remains unclear, the family has confirmed the arrest of a suspect as investigations continue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Relatives of the deceased suspect foul play, questioning the circumstances of the shooting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her uncle, Martison Quaye, in an interview with TV3, expressed concerns about the incident and demanded justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn such ceremonies, is it not gunpowder that is used? And isn\u2019t the gun supposed to be fired into the sky? Why was she shot in the thigh?\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her brother, Nii Bortey Agbli, blamed a lack of timely medical care for her death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe were turned away from the first facility without even first aid. At LEKMA, they also referred us to Ridge Hospital without any medical or first aid. By the time we got to Ridge, they removed the bullet and dressed her wound, only to tell us she had died.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The shooting has left the Nungua community in mourning, with many calling for stricter security measures at traditional ceremonies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
