Pope Francis has sacked a Rwandan-born man from the priesthood after it emerged that he has legally acknowledged being a father of a 10-year-old boy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wenceslas Munyeshyaka, 64, was serving as a clergyman in northern France for almost three decades prior to his dismissal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to a BBC.com report, a communiqu\u00e9 circulating online signed by the bishop of \u00c9vreux indicated that Wenceslas Munyeshyaka, \u201cautomatically loses clerical rights\u201d and \u201cis excluded\u201d from serving \u201canywhere else\u201d as a priest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The Office of the Diocese of \u00c9vreux has confirmed to the BBC the authenticity of the communiqu\u00e9, which says it is based on a papal decree dated in March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Mr Munyeshyaka, who fled to France after the Rwandan genocide in 1994, hasn\u2019t commented on the decision.” BBC.com report added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Munyeshyaka was ordained a priest in Rwanda in 1992, where he is accused of playing a role in the killing of hundreds of Tutsis who had fled to his church in the capital, Kigali, during the genocide but was later cleared of genocide charges by Courts in France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was however suspended by his diocese in December 2021 after it emerged that he has legally acknowledged being a father of a 10-year-old boy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
