Six robbers armed with AK-47 rifles and on three haojue express motorbikes, have attacked two Mobile Money (MoMo) vendors in broad day, Mr Ibrahim Sadat and Mr Haris Stivo and made away with over GH₵80,000 from Sadat including his two business phones and GH₵5,000 and undisclosed amount of the days sales from Haris Stivo at Gwollu in the Sissala West District of the Upper West region.
The incident took place around the Gwollu market square between the hours of 2:30pm and the entire operation scene lasted less than 30 minutes.
Speaking to Gwollu Fm, Sadat recounted that the robbers, who were on three motorbikes, stopped in front of the B. Dramani shop and attacked him and the other victim Stivo shops respectively. “One of the suspects pulled out an AK47 rifle and started firing indiscriminately, while the others wielded AK-47 rifles demanded we hand over our money,” He said.
“All the six robbers were speaking English and I can say they are all fulbe people”. Said Haris.
The Sissala West District police command station officer said investigations are under way and personnel dispatched to bring calm..
