Member Of Parliament For Sissala East Empowers 291 Tvet And Tertiary Students With Gh¢400,000 Support Package.

The Member of Parliament for the Sissala East Constituency in the Upper West Region, Hon. Issah Mohammed Bataglia, has successfully disbursed GH¢400,000 to support 291 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) trainees and tertiary students under the Bataglia Educational Support Scheme (BESS).

The initiative, aimed at equipping students with the financial assistance needed to pursue their education and skills development, took place on the 28th January 2026 at the Tumu Municipal Assembly Hall, where beneficiaries gathered to receive the support.

The maiden disbursement ceremony was witnessed by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Adamu Yakubu, alongside education stakeholders and community members. Speaking at the event, Hon. Bataglia emphasized that the scheme is formally registered, institutionalized, and designed to be sustainable, assuring beneficiaries that it is a long-term intervention rather than a one-time gesture.He further noted that the scheme operates on non-partisan principles, with beneficiaries selected through transparent and professional processes to ensure fairness and equal opportunity. Several beneficiaries, particularly female students, expressed their gratitude to the MP for the timely intervention, describing the support as a significant boost to their academic and vocational aspirations.

Hon. Adamu Yakubu encouraged the students to make good use of the assistance, stressing that investing in their education and skills development would give meaningful purpose to the vision behind Hon. Bataglia’s initiative.

The Bataglia Educational Support Scheme forms part of broader efforts to strengthen human capital development and expand educational access within the Sissala East Municipality.
